Brother Michael Wingate, Sr.

Alpha: January 17, 1947 — Omega: August 11, 2024

Bro. Michael Wingate, Sr. was initiated into Omega Psi Phi fraternity on December 13, 1968 at Theta Sigma Chapter, Dillard University. His line name was “The Sensational Tentations”. Bro. Wingate served as the chapter’s Keeper of Finance while he attended Dillard. Upon graduating from Dillard, Bro. Wingate lived out of town for several years working for Ernst and Young Accounting Company. After returning to the city, Bro. Wingate joined Rho Phi Chapter being reclaimed by Bro. William Jeffrion. Bro. Wingate was active for 8 years and after several years of inactivity, he was reclaimed again by Bro. Ronald Butler. Bro. Wingate, served Rho Phi chapter as the Vice-Basileus in 1982 and Basileus from 1982-1983. He also was the Keeper of Finance for 8 years. He also served on the Budget, Picnic, Audit, Christmas Party and Easter Basket committees. He also served as the Crescent City Que House Manager and Treasurer of the Omega Men Foundation for 10 years. Bro. Wingate received the chapter’s 1982 Superior Service Award and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 and was a Life Member of the Fraternity (#708).
