December 18, 2015- Rho Phi Chapter continued our Books for Bikes out reach program at Joseph A. Craig Elementary School. Brothers from Rho Phi volunteered to read to the students and emphasize the importance of having good reading skills and to reward middle school students who have read the most books with brand new bikes.
December 4, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter held its annual city-wide talent hunt at Dillard University's Cook Theatre. The Talent Hunt is a mandated program that is designed to provide a stage and setting for many young people in our community to showcase their talents. The top 3 contestants will represent the chapter at the Greater New Orleans Talent Hunt in February, 2016. The winner of that event will compete at the 79th 9th District Talent Hunt event which will be held during the 9th District Meeting in New Orleans.
November 23, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter continued a tradition of donating Thanksgiving Baskets to needy families in the Greater New Orleans Area.
November 14, 2015 - The 5 chapters that comprise the New Orleans Coalition held their annual Achievement Week Banquet at the La Maison Creole Banquet Hall
October 10, 2015 - Brothers from Rho Phi Chapter along with graduate and undergraduate chapters in the Greater New Orleans Coalition participated in the annual U.N.C.F. Walk / Run. Brothers raised over $3,000.00 in donations for the event along with donating their time to assist with handing out Walk/Run packages at the the U.N.C.F. Kick-Off Party held on Wednesday October 8, 2015 at the Audubon Tea Room.
October 2, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter continued our Real Men Read out reach program at Joseph A. Craig Elementary school. Brothers from Rho Phi volunteered to read to the students and emphasis the importance of having good reading skills. This year Rho Phi Chapter partnered with The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco Free Living. A representative from the organization gave a presentation to the students about the dangers of tobacco use.
September 22, 2015 - The brothers of Rho Phi held a voters registration event at McDonogh 35 High School located at 4000 Cadillac St. in New Orleans. The event, which falls under the nationally mandated programs of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, was held from 11:30am to 2pm in an outside courtyard area of the school where students gather for the exchange to class or to go to lunch.Altogether, about 90 or more students ages 17 and up registered to vote during that time frame. Brothers were on hand to answer questions, help with filling out the paperwork, and taking time to speak with the students about the organization and the work we do. Members of Delta Sigma Theta also attended and volunteered at the sign-in tables.
August, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. donated One Thousand Five Dollars ($1,500.00) as a scholarship award to each of the three local HBCU universities, Dillard University, Xavier University and Southern University of New Orleans. Each university was given the latitude to select an outstanding student who was entering the freshman class this school year.
August 29, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter Brothers, Sorors from local chapters of the Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta and Sigma Gamma Rho and other volunteers joined forces to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina by participating in a cleanup effort around the Crescent City Que Club house.
August 01, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter partnered with Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter of The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to assist with their health fair at the Dryades St YMCA.
May 08, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter continued our outreach program at Joseph Craig Charter School. Brothers from Rho Phi met with students to encourage them to begin thinking about their career path and show some of the students how to tie a neck tie .
April 04, 2015 - The Brothers of Rho Phi Chapter distributed Easter baskets and Religious articles to hospitalized children and Emergency Shelters in the New Orleans area on the Saturday before Easter.
March 08, 2015 - The Brothers of Rho Phi Chapter held its annual Memorial Service at St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. The mandated program is conducted every year in March and serves as a memorial to the Omega Brothers who have entered Omega Chapter.
March 06, 2015 - Rho Phi Chapter held its annual city-wide talent hunt at Dillard University's Professional School Building. The Talent Hunt is a mandated program that is designed to provide a stage and setting for many young people in our community to showcase their talents. The winner, Chloe Sumpter, a student at Katherine Drexel High School, represented Rho Phi at the 78th 9th District Meeting held in Dallas,Texas.
